Helping You Move Forward

Art Therapy & Counseling Services

My approach is to utilize different techniques depending on the needs and preferences of the people I meet with including: Trauma Resiliency Method, Art Therapy, Play Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Health Coaching, and Hypnosis. Nicole's work is guided by four main principles:

Somatic approaches in therapy can decrease or eliminate symptoms of PTSD, depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions by activating the parasympathetic nervous system and restoring the body’s natural balance. These approaches are also helpful in alleviating difficulties with the digestive and reproductive systems.

Creativity fosters healing and can bring unconscious obstacles into awareness to then be resolved in the therapeutic process. In this way, art therapy is much like dream work. It has the power to release physical and emotional pain from the body, through a process of distancing and witnessing of the pain or obstacle.

We have created our negative beliefs about ourselves (which are not true!) and have the power to change them. Retraining the brain through hypnosis and mindfulness techniques helps us to become positive, happy, and resilient to future challenges. Hypnosis is a powerful tool that shifts thought patterns quickly and with ease.

What we eat affects how we feel not only physically but also emotionally. Changes in eating habits create dramatic improvements in health, increasing energy and vitality. These changes also decrease or eliminate symptoms of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders and even psychotic symptoms associated with schizophrenia.

These four principles are intertwined. The trauma and stress we hold in our bodies affects our physical and mental health. Our thoughts affect our physical health, especially the immune system which is influenced by stress. And the food we eat helps our brains to create important neurotransmitters which affect cognition and mood. Substandard food can create a toxic environment in the digestive system which then permeates the whole body, including the brain, through the blood stream. Using a combination of modalities, these influences are addressed and the result is transformation.
